"My son loved this book! Full of adventure, mystery and great characters! The cat is a must! Illustrations are fantastic.
Highly recommend"
"This is a great, short adventure story that reminded me a lot of The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew-style mysteries I used to read as a kid.
I loved Whiskers the cat as a sidekick.
Well-written and exciting enough to keep a kid's attention, this would be great for late elementary/preteens."
"Modern Classic Adventure Story"
"Harkens back to some of the classical stories my mom used to read me. A fun nostalgic adventure, definitely looking forward to future tales."
"Love this adventure story! Reading this makes me nostalgic! so much fun to read and a very adventurous and friendly book for the children!"
At first, this is a mystery novel for children aged 8-12 who love adventures. Still, I wrote it in a way that will also appeal to adults looking for a piece of nostalgia in the form of a book.
This book, although set somewhere in England in the year 1952, intends to spark the imagination and transport young readers of today on a time travel journey through the power of the imagination to a world of mystery and intrigue, decades away from the Internet and where no one ever could have imagined what a smartphone was going to be.
"A Terrific Weekend Adventure" awaits, ready to whisk you away to a world of days gone by where the magic of childhood days still exists. I hope that drawing from the charm of a classic literary universe allowed me to create a world of my own brimming with mystery and excitement for readers of any age.
In short, this book series is a fast-paced and exciting read for middle-grade children who love mystery and adventure stories.
Still, it can also be for you, who, like me, is 54 years old, going on 14.
This first heart-pounding adventure is filled with suspense, unbreakable friendship and childhood memories of days gone by.
Drawing from the charm of the old-style adventures for children, "A Terrific Weekend Adventure" is set in 1952's England, in the imaginary region of Seaview and is an honest homage/attempt to capture that old adventure feeling for everyone out there who, like me, still keeps going back to those books, no matter how up in age we are.
Naturally, you'll find the usual cliches here: the summer holidays, the secret tunnels, the gipsies, and not even the smugglers were forgotten.
Fun for kids!
Nostalgic for grown-ups!
It's a universe inspired by nostalgia.
It's a fast-paced adventure story.
Simple and exciting!
It's the perfect guide for those who play the ZX Spectrum adventure game and get stuck.
Naturally, you'll find the usual cliches here: the summer holidays, the secret tunnels, the gipsies, and not even the smugglers were forgotten. And there is a cat.
Explore the Seaview region with Anne and Philip and discover its secrets. The time is 1952, so time travel to an age without the internet and smartphones was not even in the imagination of children like Anne and Philip.
Visit the lighthouse, row to Luna Island, and get excited at the sight of Shipwreck Rock in the sea.
Visit Seaview's beach with Anne and Philip, where the entire mystery begins and an innocent trip to the beach one summer morning becomes the adventure of a lifetime. Join the two children as they unravel the mystery of the old bottle and face off against dangerous smugglers in days gone by.
Join Anne, Philip and Whiskers the Cat as they meet the characters in Seaview and learn about old tales of smugglers in the night, secret passages, ruined castles, and haunted woods. Always watched by Anne's cat, Whiskers, who has his own story to tell. Meet Clara, the cook, Mr Willis, Old Ben, Mrs Fletcher, Tobias, O'Brien, Jacques and Sunk Bob.

I've been an illustrator for thirty years, and two significant things shaped my imagination as a child. The first was Enid Blyton's "The Famous Five" novels, which I read in the late 1970s when I was about 8 or 9 years old and re-read recently, already in my 50s.
The second thing was the classic ZX Spectrum computer, which was hugely popular in my teenage years. To fully understand the second part and its connection to this novel, you must read this book's introduction, as the story is also available as a free-to-download retro ZX Spectrum adventure game.
I had this story half-written for about 25 years, with several random chapters put to paper and left in the drawer until I needed a story for one of my new adventure games, and so the book
and game were born out of each other.
My goal with "A Terrific Weekend Adventure" was not only to pay homage to those types of children's adventures of days gone by, but also to capture the original story I wrote for my new ZX Spectrum adventure game, because although this mystery adventure for children started as a script for a video game, I soon noticed that what I was doing I was writing a book at the same time.
And so this novel was born.
This is the first of many Seaview stories I have. Book TWO is also already available!
